Castelo do Pambre

Castelo del Pambre

It is the best example of medieval military architecture in Galicia. It was built by Gonzalo Ozores de Ulloa around 1375. It is square in shape and surrounded by an irregularly shaped wall that adapts to the terrain. The walls are of masonry and granite ashlar masonry. The central building is made up of a square-shaped tower, flanked by four smaller squares, which are located at each of the major angles and connected by a wall. The interior patio is accessed by a small portico practiced in the wall. In the interior is conserved a hórreo of four airs placed partly on the outer wall. It is of rectangular plant, with the granite structure and the wooden balustrade.

Museo Terra de Melide
museo-terra-de-melide

The Museum was born in 1978 on the initiative of a group of friends interested in studying, collecting and disseminating the culture and heritage of the Land of Melide. It is located in the lower part of the Concello, in the Municipal Library, a wedge of archeoloxía castrexa and each exhibition of ethnography. After four years, the funds increased and demanded more money, which in 1982 moved to a house where two rooms were installed.
